This year’s spring performance, tentatively set for April 12 & 13 depending on venue availability, is a full length original ballet of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen directed & choreographed by YBC Director, Elizabeth Troxler. This production will feature dancers who are current YBC & YBC Prep company members and is open to other dancers from TADA by audition/application. Requirements: Dancers must be in PreBallet or higher and be age 7 by Oct 1st, 2024. Dancers must be enrolled in at least one ballet class to participate. Auditions: There will not be formal auditions; instead, dancers must be registered by December 1st and will be observed during their classes and rehearsals during the month of December by Ms. Elizabeth. They will be cast in appropriate parts by their ballet level, age, focus, musicality, presence and work ethic.
ABOUT THE BALLET
The Snow Queen, Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless tale, this ballet is a tale about friendship and love. The powerful Snow Queen and her imps break a magic mirror that sends shards of evil ice all over the world. Gerta and Kai are best friends living peacefully in their village, having grown up amongst their family and friends. But when one of the shards of ice lodges in Kai’s eye, the Snow Queen steals Kai away to her castle of ice and snow. Missing her dear friend, Gerta sets out upon the treacherous journey to find and rescue him.
